Iranian History, Art, and Culture Classes for Children
In these classes, children will learn about various aspects of Iranian culture through storytelling, games, and performances. The topics covered include:
• Ancient Iranian Mythology: Introduction to mythical creatures, legendary heroes, and sacred plants in Iranian mythology.
• Traditional Iranian Arts: Exploring crafts such as mirror work, knotwork, kilim and gabbeh weaving, Kerman pātchwork embroidery, Turkmen needlework, Baluchi embroidery, and more.
• Carpet Design in Iran: Learning about Iranian carpet patterns and experiencing the art of carpet design.
• Iranian Architecture: Discovering historical buildings, bridges, squares, and traditional urban planning throughout Iran’s history, with opportunities for sketching and painting these structures.
• Ethnic Groups of Iran: Learning about Iran’s diverse languages and dialects, traditional clothing, and customs of different ethnic communities.
• Iran’s Natural Landscape: Familiarizing children with rivers, seas, mountains, wildlife, and plant life while understanding the geographical borders of Iran.
• Iranian Literature: Introducing classic works such as Shahnameh, Kalila and Dimna, The Conference of the Birds, Saadi’s Bustan, Rumi’s Masnavi, and more.
• Iranian Music – A Visual and Auditory Introduction: Exploring classical and regional Iranian music, traditional musical instruments, famous Iranian musicians, and hands-on experiences with traditional instruments.
• Traditional Iranian Performing Arts: Learning about puppet theater (Kheimeh Shab Bazi), Siyah Bazi (comic performances), Naqqali (storytelling), Mir Nowruzi (New Year performances), passion plays (Shabih Khani), and Siavash Khani (mourning performances).
• Painting and Sculpture Techniques: Developing artistic skills in painting and sculpture.
*At the end of each session, students will create a visual artwork (a painting or sculpture) based on the topic of the class, transforming their knowledge into creative expression.
